Creating a Summer-to-Fall Transition Wardrobe

I can't believe I'm sitting here writing about fall fashion....where does did the summer go?!?

As we move from the warmth of summer to the crispness of fall, it's the perfect time to update your wardrobe for versatility and comfort. While September can still bring warm days, there are occasions when it cools down, so it's smart to be prepared for the cooler temperatures when they arrive. Transitioning from summer to fall fashion can be seamless with a few strategic choices that blend seasonal styles and practicality.

I know our blogs might sometimes seem like a 'duh' moment, but hey, even the most seasoned pros need a friendly nudge now and then to keep things fresh and fabulous!

In this blog, we’ll share five tips to help you create a seamless summer to fall transition wardrobe. 𝙄𝙩’𝙨 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙧𝙤𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨𝙣'𝙩 𝙣𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙡𝙮 𝙧𝙚𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙧𝙚 𝙥𝙪𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙥𝙞𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙨. You can create a transition wardrobe by reimagining pieces you already own and combining them with current season items. So, let's get started!

First, layering is essential. Incorporate lightweight pieces like cardigans, denim jackets, blazers, and scarves that you can easily add or remove as temperatures fluctuate throughout the day. For example, pair your favorite summer dresses with a lightweight cardigan, blazer, or denim jacket for added warmth. In the picture below, we took our Tie Shoulder dress and added a denim jacket for warmth.

Next, try mixing textures. Introduce fall textures like knitwear and suede into your outfits while still embracing summer fabrics such as cotton and linen. This creates depth and interest in your look. Mixing a summer top with fall-appropriate bottoms like jeans or trousers and adding suede footwear is a perfect example.

Now, let's talk color! Consider playing with neutral and earthy tones. Shades like camel, olive, navy, rust, and mustard transition beautifully from summer to fall, capturing the essence of the season. Pairing a beige midi dress with a denim jacket, taupe suede ankle boots, and a taupe crossbody bag creates an outfit that's ideal for shifting temperatures.

Let's not forget footwear! Footwear plays a crucial role in bridging the seasonal gap. Opt for versatile options like ankle boots, loafers, or stylish sneakers that complement both summer dresses and fall jeans or trousers.

Lastly, don’t forget the “𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙠𝙚” as I like to call them: accessories. Add accessories like wide brimmed hats, purses and belts in cognac, olive or black, and statement jewelry in beautiful fall colors to enhance your outfits and tie together your seasonal transition wardrobe. Choose pieces that complement both summer and fall elements. A classic outfit that incorporates a transitioning accessory would be a white button-down shirt, black skinny jeans, nude flats, and a black fedora hat. In our example, we used our Tie Shoulder dress, added a leather woven belt, denim jacket and a camel colored felt hat. This instantly transforms this warm weather dress to fall perfection!

Transitioning your wardrobe from summer to fall is all about adapting to changing temperatures while expressing your personal style. These tips will help you create a wardrobe that seamlessly navigates from warm summer days to cool fall evenings, ensuring you look stylish and comfortable throughout the season without needing to purchase new clothing.

Ultimately, remember to stay true to your personal style and embrace it 𝙪𝙣𝙖𝙥𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮, because confidence is the best accessory you can wear through any season.
